Olympiad exams
are competitive exams for younger students that makes them eligible for
scholarships. Olympiads provoke thought process of students to think outside
the box and not just follow the ordinary methods. It forces them to use
academic knowledge in an efficient way. They help students by offering
scholarships and making it attractive through scholarship rewards. They also
help students build up their positive spirit and provide a more ambitious way of
looking at things. It is one of the first time when the students compete
outside the school level. This leads to a creative learning process. The main
aim of conducting these exams is to improve the intellectual, logical and reasoning capabilities of the
students. Most of the exams conducted are aptitude and knowledge-based.

NTSE - NTSE
is is organized by NCERT for students in various standards. It is arguably the
most popular Olympiad exam in India
with the scholarship program. The syllabus of the exam consists of maths, science,
social skills and mental ability as prescribed in NCERT textbooks. There are
two stages to this exam. The first stage consists of a state-level selection. If
a student is selected on a state level then he will be taken to the second
stage where he will be evaluated on a national level with other state-level
students.

KVPY -
Kishore Vaigyanik Protsahana Yojana also known as KVPY was started in 1999 by
the Department of Science and Technology of the Government of India. Students
from 11th and 12th grade from recognized institutes are eligible to participate
in this exam. There are two stages to this exam. On the first stage, an aptitude
test is conducted which tests the knowledge of the applicants. If the student
clears the first stage then an interview round will be conducted in the second
stage as part of the final selection process.

HBBVS -
HBBVS was initiated in Mumbai in 1981. This exam aims to search for talented
students who are interested in science. Only the students studying in class 6th
and 9th are eligible to take this exam. Syllabus exam consists of all the
topics and subjects in the curriculum of class 6th and 9th. This Exam consists
of 3 stages. The First stage of this olympiad is a written test. The second stage
is a practical skill test. The third stage is an oral test in the interview and
submission of the action research report.

NSO - NSO
also known as National Science Olympiad is an exam conducted by Science
Olympiad Foundation(SOF Olympiad).
Ranks in this exam are allotted on the basis of the marks obtained. Students
from 1st grade to 12th grade are eligible to participate in SOF Olympiad. The syllabus for this
exam will be based on math and science subject from CBSE and ICSE textbooks. The exam has four levels in total. For an applicant to be selected, they must clear
all four levels.
